CEMLab at the National Engineering School of Sfax (ENIS) brings together researchers working on process control, electrical energy networks, robotics and artificial vision to solve real-world engineering challenges.
The Control and Energy Management Laboratory (CEMLab) is hosted at the National Engineering School of Sfax (ENIS), University of Sfax. Our research spans the control and optimization of processes, electrical energy networks and renewable energies, robot control and navigation, as well as artificial vision and pattern recognition for medical diagnosis and biometrics. The laboratory combines fundamental research with applied engineering, training PHD students and collaborating with academic and industrial partners to transfer knowledge into practical, reliable solutions.

From smart energy grids to intelligent robotics and medical imaging, our teams turn advanced control theory into applied solutions.

Neural networks, fuzzy inference, evolutionary optimization and learning-based classification applied to control and energy problems.
Manipulators, mobile robots, quadrotors and autonomous vehicles, with a focus on trajectory tracking and cooperative control.
Observer design, fault detection and isolation, and fault-tolerant control for keeping industrial and energy systems dependable.
Sliding mode, backstepping, adaptive and Lyapunov-based design for systems that are uncertain, constrained or strongly nonlinear.
Join a community of researchers, engineers and doctoral students shaping the future of control and energy management.

We investigate the theoretical foundations of control, optimization, energy systems and machine perception to build robust and well-grounded methods.
Our teams translate research results into prototypes and applied solutions for energy networks, robotics, industrial processes and medical imaging.
Through publications, doctoral training and the organization of scientific events, we share knowledge with the academic and industrial community.
CEMLab (Control and Energy Management Laboratory) is a research laboratory at the National Engineering School of Sfax (ENIS), University of Sfax. It gathers researchers, teachers and doctoral students working on control systems, energy management, robotics and artificial vision.
Our research focuses on four main themes: process control and optimization; electrical energy networks and renewable energies; robot control and navigation; and artificial vision and pattern recognition for medical diagnosis and biometrics.
The laboratory organizes and co-organizes scientific events, including the International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals and Devices (SSD), the International Conference on Image Processing and Applications (IPAS), and the control & energy sessions co-organized at IEEE STA 2026. The full programme is listed on our events page.
